CHARITY
Anthony
McGrath is a valuable and loyal member of our staff and will be known to most
customers who have visited our factory. We were all deeply shocked when
he was diagnosed with leukaemia and decided to do something to show our
support for him.
On Sunday 16th
July 2006 all the staff and directors of Diamond Glass including friends,
relatives and ex-staff members set off for London to do the 10th
London Bikeathon. The Bikeathon is an annual event in aid of Leukaemia
Research. There are three routes. We chose the City Ride which is a 26 mile
route starting from the Royal Hospital Chelsea. It takes in some of London’s
famous landmarks including the Tate Gallery, Royal Festival Hall, London Eye,
the Dome, St Paul’s Cathedral and Canary Wharf.
In total there were 21
riders and 3 supporters who set off that Sunday, which was an incredibly hot
and sunny day. All 21 riders returned in one piece although some in human
jelly form. By Monday morning everyone had recovered, although the sore
bottoms lasted for a few more days.
We are hoping to raise as
much money as possible for this very important cause. If you wish to make a
donation please send cheques made payable to
LEUKAEMIA RESEARCH to Diamond Glass, Furnace Place, Crawley, RH10
6HE.
